Miscarriage, pregnant again before having first period after D&C?

I had a D&C due to fetal demise almost 3 weeks ago, I was 12 weeks but the baby stopped growing at 8 1/2. Is it safe to get pregnant again before having my first period after the D&C? I've read so many different things that contradict each other and my doctor has her own opinions... my husband and I just want to try again asap, but I don't want to risk another miscarriage.
