Biology Osmosis & Diffusion Question!?

If you pack meat in salt, water undergoes osmosis out of the cells. Any bacteria would also be killed because water would move out of their cells, too, into the salt. Since bacteria require water both inside and outside of their cells to grow, their growth is prevented by the salt.
